Vidya Balan turns Punjabi wife in Ghanchakkar

After two back to hits Vidya Balan is surely riding high these days. Her last films ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ wrote history in Bollywood’s pages. After tasting the success, she is now trying her hands at some other genres.

Earlier she has done some intense roles ever since she has debuted in Bollwyood with ‘Parineeta’. But Vidya has come out of her cocoon and will be playing an ambitious Punjabi wife in Raj Kumar Gupta’s ‘Ghanchakkar’.

Vidya Balan plays Punjabi wife in Ghanchakkar

The movie is a comedy caper that stars Emraan in the role of a lazy husband who has taste for finer things in life. But his wife Vidya Balan has her own utopian world and she loves to live in it.

Prod Gupta about Vidya’s character in the movie and he says, “Her character will be completely different from what she has played so far.”

He says that Vidya was the first and last choice for the role. Gupta has earlier worked with Vdiya in ‘No One Killed Jessica’. And he is the only director whom Vidya is working for the second time.

“While doing ‘No One Killed Jessica’, I explored a different side of Vidya. She was on my mind while I developed the script for ‘Ghanchakkar’. Thankfully, she agreed to do the role,” reveals Gupta.

Vidya was bit unconvinced about her role but the director convinced her and she agreed after much pressing. He says, “But our admiration for each other helped me make her understand how much I’m looking forward to her playing the character, which is why she finally agreed to do the film.”

These days Vidya and Gupta both are working on detailing the behaviorism of Vidya in the movie. “We are working on her look and mannerisms. It will take some time to get them to fit the image I’ve conceived,” tells Gupta.

Even Emraan Hashmi will have a different look in the film. “I don’t claim that this will break Emraan’s image, but it will show him in a different light for sure,” exclaimed Rajkumar.

‘Ghanchakkar’ hits the floors in September this year and will see an early 2013 release.
